The 'Pic' in the 1954 list is not a name but an initialism: P.I.C., for Pacific Inter-Club. The class was fostered by the same association that commissioned the Bird.

Sourcing notes & unresolved questions
- No designer or builder was recovered despite searching Yachting from 1936 to the mid-1950s. That the P.I.C. and the Bird share a sponsor in the P.I.Y.A. is suggestive but proves nothing about authorship.
